CircoPitanga: Circus

We’ll be checking this new addition to the Brighton Fringe out in May this year with a quirky and unexpected take on contemporary circus and physical theatre.

This new show from  a hugely international circus troupe hailing from Rio in Brazil, Argentina, Belgium, Italy, France and Russia is called ‘*CIRCUS*’ , offering the fantastic and chaotic world of a small independent circus from the 1920s! A black and white acrobatic film, a vintage and glamorous high-flying show in a surreal world full of fleas, flakes, acrobatics and surprises…

The show’s protagonist, the humble director of a small circus, has lost all his strength and no longer knows what to do to save the show. Furthermore, instead of cooperating properly, his lovely assistant Miss Lilly tends to be creating extra trouble… unless?

This performance has been created by Loïse Haenni and Oren Schreiber (co-founders of CircoPitanga) and their mixed cultural influences reflect on the capacity of the artists to recreate universal emotions through body language in a subtle, poetic and always accessible and entertaining way.

All shows take place at:

Brighton Spiegeltent
Old Steine Gardens
Brighton
BN1 1GY
