Man falls 20ft into bushes near Black Rock in Brighton

A man needed hospital treatment after falling 20ft into bushes near Black Rock in Brighton.

Ambulance and fire crews went to his rescue between 8pm and 9pm.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) said: “At 8.12pm last night (Sunday 2 June) we sent a car and ambulance to a man who had fallen about 20ft and was found in bushes near Black Rock Subway, Brighton.

“The patient was conscious and breathing and taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital for further treatment.”

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 8.54pm, Roedean firefighters attended Madeira Drive, Brighton, to assist SECAMB to help retrieve a person who had fallen into the bushes.

“Crews used a bow saw to cut away bushes and undergrowth to access the casualty.”

Yesterday firefighters were sent to deal with a fire at someone’s home in Kemp Town.

The fire service said: “At 10.45am Roedean firefighters attended a residential property in St George’s Road, Brighton following reports of a fire.

“The small fire emanated from a fuseboard and was out on arrival.

“Crews made the scene safe and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to disperse the smoke.

“At 4.18am Brighton firefighters attended a fire in the open in Heath Hill Avenue, Brighton. Crews used buckets of water to extinguish the fire.”

On Saturday (1 June) fire crews twice went to the same property in George Street, Brighton, to deal with flooding.

The fire service said: “At 11.55am Brighton firefighters attended a commercial premises in George Street, Brighton, following reports of a flooding. Crews isolated the leak and electrics.

“At 8.41pm Brighton firefighters attended a commercial property in George Street following reports of a flooding. Crews isolated the leak and carried out salvage.

“At 3.20pm Brighton firefighters attended Preston Park, Brighton, following reports of a fire in the open. Crews used buckets of water to extinguish a bin fire.

“At 6.13pm, Brighton firefighters attended a bin fire in Preston Road, Brighton. Crews extinguished the fire using buckets of water.”
