A pedestrian has been injured in an accident involving a bus in Western Road, Brighton, this morning (Tuesday 10 September).
Sussex Police said that the pedestrian was “sat up and talking” as paramedics treated him.
Brighton and Hove Buses diverted dozens of services as traffic backed up along Western Road in both directions.
Brighton and Hove Buses communications manager Marie Sansom said: “At 10.46am a bus on route 25X was travelling along Western Road when a man walked off the pavement into the side of the bus at Clarence Square.
“Police have confirmed our driver was not at fault.
“Police and ambulance have been called and they’re now on the scene.
“There are some delays and diversions across the network, likely to be up until around 1.30pm, but buses are starting to return to normal.
“Please check Twitter or Facebook for updates.”
Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to Western Road, in Brighton, at 11.01am on Tuesday (10 September) after a pedestrian was reported to have been in collision with a bus.
“He is reported to be sat up and talking but has sustained an injury that is being attended to by paramedics.
“The road remains open but there is traffic disruption in the area.”
