The Met Office has issued another wet weather warning with about half an inch of rain expected to fall today (Thursday 14 November).
Much of it came down overnight with more expected from late afternoon in the Brighton and Hove area.
The official forecaster said: “Periods of rain are expected to become widespread, persistent and locally heavy across parts of England and Wales through Thursday.
“Rainfall totals of 15mm to 25 mm are likely widely, with the potential for some spots to see 40mm to 60 mm.
“Rain will ease from the west during Thursday afternoon and evening.
“Persistent rain may bring some disruption from flooding.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
“Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.
“Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”
One weather website said that Brighton has its wettest weather in November, with an average of almost 4in or 99mm of rainfall.
November this year is on course to be wetter than average, with concern growing in some quarters about the prospect of flooding in places such as Patcham and Portslade.
