A Brighton and Hove Albion fan was today banned from going to any of his beloved team’s matches after being found guilty of violent behaviour.
Joshua Moore, 21, of Chichester Drive East, Saltdean,was served a five year football banning order today at Eastbourne Magistrates court.
Moore was observed by Sussex Police football spotters over a period of four years and on 13 occasions was found to contribute to violence and / or disorder at home and away matches. Moore did not contest the evidence.
Chief Inspector Simon Nelson, Brighton & Hove Police said: “Football should always be a game that is easily accessible to genuine supporters, and Brighton and Hove Albion work closely with us to ensure that the matches are safe sporting events.
“We owe it to the lawful majority, to identify the trouble-makers who falsely claim to be supporters but who have the sole intention of committing and inciting violence.
“We will do all that we can to identify those key individuals and make sure that they do not have the opportunity to enjoy the matches at the new community stadium at Falmer, once it has been completed.”
And these are the sort of morons that we have given up part of the Sussex Downs for, so that they can have an ugly stadium that will cause traffic chaos every time there is a match.
And you, Bones, are the sort of Moron who should have a five-year ban from posting inflammatory comments on sites like this. Football thugs are a tiny minority these days. Go back to bed.
The person I referred to as a moron is a violent thug and there are still such individuals in the football world (on and off the field).

Yes, they are a small minority in most clubs but they still exist and to call such individuals morons is in no way inflammatory.
However, to refer to someone making a considered comment on a website as a moron, as you have, suggests to me that I have struck a nerve.

I like sport but I have no interest in football which is an industry not a sport.
I therefore object to big business being allowed to build a massive structure on the South Downs.
Having said all that I accept that this carbuncle will give some football followers pleasure and I am glad for them but I cannot help being irritated at it’s presence when I read reports about morons like Moore.

I object to your insinuation that I, too, am a thug. I cannot wait to take my two-year-old son to Falmer and show him everything that is great about the Albion.

Rather, the ugly brown field next to a four-lane motorway, railway and university, is now being transformed into what will be one of the best sporting stadiums in the UK, a wonderful building benefiting the whole community, used by families from across the county. I can’t wait for the new stadium to open. It hasn’t been the same since the Goldstone where me and my mates used to decend from the downs into Hove, wearing our horned helmets as we raped and pillaged the terrified locals for approximately 2 hours of violent entertainment every other week. Falmer offers fresh opportunities for us seagull supporters; new lands to plunder, old ladies to threaten and babies to eat etc. And all in an AONB!

And I did find the simpleton response amusing and consistent with the ‘football fan’ mentallity – but not funny. So, no sense of humour failure.
But it will be interesting to see if any of the ‘fans’ suffer a sense of humour failure when they go to a match at the new stadium and get snarled up in the inevitable traffic chaos that there will be….

I have no animosity whatsoever against the decent core supporters of football (or any other sport), I just hate thug-hooligans (in every sport, and society).

Yep, I’ve lived in East London for the last 15 years and have had a season ticket for the last 10 – I’ve not lived in Brighton since 1983! But the football team, no matter how rubbish they can be, is in my blood. It’s a strange thing. And I love them with a passion.
I have friends in Manchester who make 10 to 15+ games a season, and there are season-ticket holders living all over the country. That’s the beauty of football, it brings people together 🙂
I would just as soon watch paint dry but we are all different.
However, I did used to drink with Steve Foster when he first joined B’ton. I’ve still got the hangover.
