Brighton magistrates have granted detectives from Sussex Police a further 36 hours to question a man arrested on suspicion of the murder of Stefan Welch.
The warrant of further detention was issued at 6.50pm today.
It means that detectives from the Major Crimes Branch can question the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Portslade, until 6.50am on Saturday.
He was arrested just before noon on Tuesday on suspicion of the murder of Mr Welch, 37, who lived at a hostel in Oriental Place, Brighton.
Mr Welch’s badly burnt body was found by golfers just before noon on Saturday at The Dyke Golf Club, just to the north of Brighton and Hove.
