Two more men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Stefan Welch, whose burnt body was found on a golf course on the edge of Brighton and Hove.

Detectives are holding a man aged 44 and another aged 23.

Sussex Police arrested the pair at an address in Hove at around 12.45pm today.

A 21-year-old man from Portslade, who was arrested on Tuesday, is still in custody after Brighton magistrates gave police permission to hold him for an extra 36 hours.

He is due to be charged or released tomorrow morning.

Detective Inspector Carwyn Hughes, from the Major Crime Branch, said: “This is a fast-moving inquiry.

“We appreciate the support of the local community in assisting us in our investigation.”

The body of Mr Welch was found at The Dyke Golf Club, across the road from the Devil’s Dyke, late on Saturday morning.

Mr Welch, 37, of Oriental Place, Brighton, is believed to have been murdered over a drug debt.
