A man robbed a bank in the centre of Brighton shortly before 3pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 1 March).
He walked into the Co-operative Bank in Western Road and handed a note to the cashier demanding that all the money was put into a white carrier bag which he was carrying.
An unknown sum of money was handed over and the suspect fled.
Minutes later a man was seen dropping a bag of money near the Windmill pub in Upper North Street.
He was helped by the public to gather the money up before he continued on his journey.
No one was injured and no weapon was seen.
The suspect is described as white, in his forties, bald and wearing a dark blue jacket.
