Hove pensioner knocked over and hurt

An 81-year-old Hove woman suffered a broken ankle when she was knocked over by a car.

The pensioner was crossing Westbourne Gardens in Hove when a green Honda turned into the street from Portland Road and hit her.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after the accident which happened at about 3.40pm on Wednesday 1 May.

The 44-year-old woman who was driving the Honda was uninjured.

PC Mark Bassett, from the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit, said: “It was a sunny afternoon with lots of people around and so I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident but has not yet contacted police to please do so.”
