Fire crews were called to deal with a boiler which had caught fire in a block of flats in Brighton.
Crews from Preston Circus and Roedean in Brighton and from Hove were sent to Pullman Haul, part of the One Brighton complex, in New England Street, Brighton.
They found excessive smoke coming from a woodchip boiler and sent for the aerial ladder platform.
The smoke was confined to the boiler at the property which is next to the Clarendon Centre, one of Brighton’s busiest churches, and close to Brighton Station.
The firefighters were concerned that the boiler was emitting excessive smoke and took the venting apart to ensure there was no fire.
On doing this, they saw that there had been a fire, which was out, involving the ducting from the boiler.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that it was called to the flats just after 7.15pm on Wednesday (29 May).
