A police car has crashed in Hove this afternoon (Thursday 28 November) less than 24 hours after a similar accident in Brighton.

Sussex Police said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with a road traffic collision in New Church Road, Hove, involving a police car and another vehicle.

“The collision happened at 3pm at the junction of Saxon Road, which has been closed. Mornington Crescent is also shut. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

“There are no details of injuries at this time. A further update will be released later.”

Traffic updates indicated that New Church Road was closed during the afternoon rush hour.

Yesterday a police officer suffered a broken leg after the car she was driving crashed in Ditchling Road, Brighton, by Downs Junior School.

She was cut out of the police car and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
