A teenage girl was trapped by a falling wall in Brighton in the storms this afternoon (Monday 23 December).

Sussex Police said: “We were contacted shortly before 4pm today to a report that a 13-year-old girl had been trapped by a falling wall in Eastern Road, Brighton.

“The girl was helped at the scene by members of the public before being taken to hospital.”

There were reports that she was hit by a section of hoarding outside Brighton College just along the road from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Kemp Town.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received a call to deal with a trapped person just after 4pm and sent a crew from Roedean.

The fire service has dealt with at least ten weather-related incidents in Brighton, Hove and Portslade since the wind gathered speed and strength this afternoon.

Most of them involved making dangerous structures safe but some involved flooding.
