A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in a public toilet in Brighton on Sunday 23 March.

The victim, a 49-year-old woman, was sleeping in the Pavilion Garden disabled toilet at about 9am when she was attacked.

Detective Sergeant Cheryl Lewendon, from Brighton CID, said: “We believe there were a number of people in the vicinity of the toilets around that time and we would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any other information about it.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A 49-year-old man from Seaford was arrested on Saturday (29 March) on suspicion of rape. He was later bailed until 28 May.
