A man suspected of having a gun has been arrested after a siege at a house in Brighton this afternoon (Monday 7 April).
He was taken into custody after armed police arrested him in Lewes Road at the Vogue Gyratory.
Sussex Police said: “Road closures around the Lewes Road gyratory system in Brighton are expected to ease as police have secured a man who was reported to have a gun in the area.
“Armed police were called at 2.17pm.
“The man went into a nearby house and police sealed off the building which resulted in a number of local roads being closed, causing traffic disruption in the area.”
Detective Superintendent Steve Black said: “We are aware that this operation is causing significant disruption but it is essential that the cordon and road closures are in place to ensure the safety of people living and working locally and everyone involved.
“I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation.
“We are bringing the incident to a safe conclusion but it will be necessary to remain in the area for some time.
“However, we are now lifting some of the restrictions.”
