Wish Park residents are being asked what parking controls they would like to see in their neighbourhood.
Brighton and Hove City Council is consulting on two options – a new full parking scheme or an extension to the existing “light touch” scheme where controls are in force from 10am to 11am and 7pm to 8pm in Area W.
Consultation runs until Friday 29 August and there is a staffed exhibition at the Wish Park Pavilion on Wednesday 6 August from 3.30pm to 8.15pm.
Hove residents and businesses are also being asked whether to include Bolsover Road in the Area R parking zone which covers the Church Road, Portland Road and Poet’s Corner area and operates between 9am and 8pm.
The proposal includes widening the road to allow for parking on both sides and introducing a one-way system running from north to south.
There is an unstaffed exhibition at Hove Town Hall in the customer service area for both sets of proposals and people can give their views online at consult.brighton-hove.gov.uk.

Inevitable when most of Hove were displaced by the parking zones they never needed either.

When the Council has driven all shoppers and businesses out of Brighton & Hove, the residents can look forward to streets of charity shops and boarded shop windows. All the business trade will end up in out of town shopping centres. Driving round Brighton & Hove during the day you see lots of empty parking spaces because they are resident only or parking permit, and the consequence is the matching empty shops and closure of businesses. During the evening the residents come back from work and can’t park locally as the parking permits are only for residents during the day when they are at work! Duh. Sorry why are these day time limits of benefits to working residents? And non working residents (the elderly, disabled and young families) and business don’t benefit either as their visitors stay away due to the costs of parking. So the only gainer is the council coffers, but it is a short sighted policy to kill off the local businesses and alienate the residents. Judging by past performance if the council had a golden goose they would kill it for laying without a parking permit!

You are spot on ‘Annoyed at parking permit greed’ – the current system is absolutely senseless and does not serve the residents of the City – only designed to raise revenue in the most efficient way…
