i360-01Eight years after the ambitious plans to build the i360 observation tower on Brighton seafront, a ground-breaking ceremony is finally taking place.

On Tuesday, afternoon, dignitaries and representatives of Brighton and Hove City Council, Brighton i360 and the West Pier Trust will gather on the beach by the West Pier.

The ceremony will also mark the opening of the seafront’s new arches and creative quarter.

At least the wheel is self funded and not had to financed by Brighton Council and if the i360 fails we have to subsidise it, any case why has the wheel got to come down I live in Kemptown and like it!

It is beyond my imagination, why so much effort was made to restore the West Pier, only to build a tower instead in the end.

The tower does not match with Brighton´s personality. Has there ever been a survey to actually ask Brightonians what should happen with the Pier?
