Spring into Beaujolais: An Evening of Exquisite Food and Drink at Fourth & Church
Wednesday 25th March

Spring is officially in the air, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a glass of crisp Beaujolais. Made from the Gamay grape, these wines are light, refreshing, and perfect lightly chilled—ideal for longer days, sunny terraces, and enjoying without fuss. And while Beaujolais is best known for its famous November Beaujolais Nouveau release, this spring series at independent eaterie Fourth & Church is all about rediscovering the region in a more relaxed, flavour-focused way.

Spring into Beaujolais: Fourth & Church restaurant, Hove

One of Brighton’s most-loved independent wine destinations, Fourth & Church in Hove is hosting a special evening dedicated to the wines and flavours of Beaujolais – Spring into Beaujolais. Founded by Sam Pryor and Paul Morgan, Fourth & Church champions small producers, seasonal cooking, and a relaxed, neighbourhood approach to wine and food. For one night only, this Wednesday 25th March hosts a unique evening focused on a variety of wines from the region paired with an accompanying menu with a light French flavour.

Spring into Beaujolais at Fourth & Church

Guests will enjoy a three-course menu (£65 per person) inspired by the season’s freshest ingredients, alongside a glass of either red or white Beaujolais on arrival. Throughout the evening, a wide selection of Beaujolais will be available by the glass—from delicate and refreshing whites and juicy, playful reds to complex and age-worthy Cru wines.

This is designed to be a relaxed, informal wine dinner, rather than the more structured Sunday Session or Barstool offerings from Fourth & Church. While the team will be happy to chat about the wines on offer, the focus is on enjoying the food, wine, and company in a friendly, fun atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to leave winter behind, and kickstart spring with a viticultural backdrop.

Spring into Beaujolais: an evening of equisite Food and Drink

And if you can’t make it on Wednesday: Fourth & Church are also hosting a Try Before You Buy tasting on Sunday 29th March (12–5pm, £10 for three pours). This is a chance to sample a range of Beaujolais ahead of the Easter weekend—from delicate whites and juicy reds to the more serious, age-worthy Crus—and to get advice from event hosts on the perfect bottle for pairing with a spring menu. Special discounts are available for case purchases on the day.

The spring Beaujolais series is the perfect way to discover why this corner of France produces wines that are as approachable as they are versatile, and why Brighton is a brilliant place to enjoy them. The region’s wines are fresh, fun, and versatile. Lightly chilled reds and whites can accompany a wide range of spring dishes, from salads and small plates to roasted vegetables and fresh cheeses. Whether you’re already a fan or curious to try something new, Beaujolais offers something for every palate, and this spring series is the perfect chance to explore it in a relaxed setting. Whether you’re a long-time fan or curious to try something new, it promises a fun, flavour-packed evening with friends, food, and a touch of French flair.

Fourth & Church is one of Brighton’s (well, Hove actually!) most-loved independent restaurants, bars, and wine shops. Known for flavour-packed small plates, seasonal cooking, and a championing of small producers, the restaurant takes a neighbourhood approach to wine and food—making it a welcoming place to try something new, enjoy old favourites, and connect over shared experiences.

This spring, let Fourth & Church guide you through a flavour-packed, wine-filled evening. Great food, excellent wine, and a little French flair await—and it’s all happening in the heart of Hove.
