All change on Brighton and Hove Buses

Brighton and Hove Buses has made changes to many of its services this autumn, from wholesale revision of routes to timetable tweaks.

Logo busesAmong the biggest changes are to routes serving the Hanover and Queen’s Park area of Brighton. The 18 will now run in both directions between Brighton Station and Queens Park via St James’s Street/Edward Street every 15 minutes.

Alternate daytime journeys on Mondays to Saturdays will operate via Seven Dials and Western Road, with the rest operating via Buckingham Road and Regent Hill.

The new 20 route has been scrapped, the 21 extended to Hove Town Hall via Furze Hill as the 21A and the 22 now extended to Brighton Station to maintain a link with Elm Grove. You can see the full changes here.

These changes were made following a review of the new route after two months, when passengers complained about having to jump between bus stops to get the first bus and slow journeys from Hanover to the city centre.

The 96 school bus from Patcham to Hove Park School is now formally withdrawn following the city council’s decision to stop the subsidy.

However, Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby is unhappy that the frequency of the 48 bus from Bevendean to Brighton Station has not been improved.

He said: “This is an important route for the residents of Lower Bevendean to get to and from the centre of Brighton. An improved service would allow residents of Lower Bevendean the freedom to be able to travel at times that are more convenient to them.”

RJ – the 21 will run from Queens Park Terrace bus stop, just round the corner from the Pepperpot, to London Road shops.

re 50 service. So students are getting priority over residents now? And a poorer service. Its not good enough.

No service from south of the Pepper Pot to London Road or from London Road up Down Terrace where there is sheltered housing at Stonehurst Court. Yet again a rubbish service!!!

So the service 50 is actually being reduced to 2 an hour for residents who want to go directly into the town centre without going miles out of the way to the University. Progress – I don’t think so!!!

BRLLIANT NEWS that the 50 bus is being extended to the University campus. All you grouches above yes students should be prioritised or at least equalised with residents of Brighton after what we’ve put up with with the Brighton and Hove bus company these past few years including what, a 40% increase in ticket prices? Also the number of students based in Hollingdean/ Seven Dials area that are restricted to trains is ridiculous and the fact that we now have a bus route taking us to our hard earned place of study is great. Many of us have 20+minute walks to the closest bus stop that will take us to uni. Maybe the residents of Brighton should stop being so selfish and realise how much GDP students account for in Brighton.

I’m curious @ B&H buses, will the 50 bus be included in the student saver ticket? if so even better! very proud customer!

Congrats B&H bus company for once doing something right 🙂
