Police are appealing for witnesses to an attack on a couple in Brighton as they walked home after a night out.
The 18-year-old man and woman were on the steps leading from the lower sea front to Kings Road, opposite the Odeon cinema at about 5am on Tuesday (August 5) when they were approached by a man. He offered to sell them drugs but they ignored him.
He then ran up the steps past them, as the couple continued up the steps the man reappeared and ran toward the man, grabbed his hair and pulled him to the ground.
The suspect was joined by several other people and the man was repeatedly kicked in the head and body. They searched through his pockets but nothing was taken.
The man sustained a broken nose and bruising to the face and body, the woman sustained a sprained wrist as she was pushed aside she landed badly on it.
Detective constable Grant Hebblewhite said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack on a young couple. The suspect is described as a white man, around 19 to 20, 5ft 4in and skinny build wearing a grey track suit and a baseball cap.
“The second man to join in was also white, about 16 years old, skinny build with short brown hair wearing a blue tracksuit with the hood up. The third man was about 18 years old, short blonde curly hair wearing a grey T-shirt.
