Shall we rename London Road the Northern Quarter?

A new spoof Twitter account is poking fun at Brighton’s newly trendy London Road – or what it hopes will be soon known as “the new North Laine”.

@LondonRoad_BTN managed to provoke outrage from some before it had even tweeted just with its description – Brighton’s Fashionable Northern Quarter.

This week, it started tweeting in earnest – and it’s become very clear that it’s strictly for laughs – unless Tiger burgers really are on the menu at a new cat cafe?

Many of the jokes are based on things which have really happened in Brighton.

For instance, there have been proposals to rebrand Western Road and Preston Street as the West Laine.

And yes, there are actually plans to open a cat cafe in Brighton – and although tiger meat is almost certainly not going to be served, until recently there was a pub in Hanover serving up other “exotic meats”.
