Brighton police and Newhaven Coastguard were called to the marina at 11.30pm to reports of an apparently heavily intoxicated man driving the boat.

The coastguard said: “The man caused considerable damage to multiple vessels as well as his own after multiple collisions.
“After the police took the man on shore, members of the Newhaven Coastguard team gave his boat a thorough inspection to ensure it wasn’t taking on water as it would have caused more disruption had it sunk in the marina .
“The other damaged vessels were also inspected to ensure no holes had been made and that all mooring lines were still secure.
“The man’s vessel was secured and the keys handed to marina staff.”
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Police were called to Brighton Marina on Saturday, June 6 at around 10.45pm to reports of a man suspected of being drunk and in charge of a boat.
“It was reported he had bumped into some other boats. Officers attended but no arrests were made.”
