Ronald McDonald vomits over Brighton student house in ‘revenge’ mural

A mural featuring Ronald McDonald throwing up bright green vomit appeared on the front of a student house in Hanover.

The 15ft high mural in Southover Street was painted yesterday afternoon, reportedly in revenge for another house in nearby Hartington Road being painted with a Homer Simpson mural in April.

The landlord of the Hanover house commissioned AroeMSK to paint the Homer mural on his friend’s Hartington Road house without his knowledge – or that of the students living there who woke to find donuts on their home.

And it appears his friend has now responded in kind with this new mural – but it appears the joke is now over, as the mural was painted over early this morning.

One close neighbour said yesterday: “It appeared on Wednesday. I got back at about 5pm and the artist said that he had been paid to do it, and mentioned something about it being in revenge for another mural in Hartington Road.

“I don’t want to look out of my window at Ronald McDonald anyway and I certainly don’t want to see someone vomiting.

“I think it’s disrespectful of the neighbourhood that the landlord makes his money from. I also feel for the fish and chip shop who are running a food outlet next door.”

The landlord of the Southover Street house also owns the house in Viaduct Road which he commissioned AroeMSK to paint an elaborate mural on in response to a council request to tidy up the appearance of houses along the street.

A council spokeswoman said yesterday officers were aware of the mural. She added: “We are aware of a number of large murals on both commercial and residential properties within Brighton and Hove.

“All cases are assessed on a case by case basis and we will be writing to the owners of properties that are of concern shortly.”

There was once a house in Hanover with a face which covered the whole of the front, around the windows (eyes) and so on. That is Hanover for you.

WTF business is it of the Council’s anyways? Shouldn’t they maybe focus their attention on some slightly more VITAL public services?

It just shows how much money these private landlords are making off students!
