Hotel evacuated as fire crews tackle blaze in North Street, Brighton

Six fire engines were sent to tackle a fire in North Street, Brighton, this afternoon (Monday 24 October).

The Premier Inn hotel was evacuated as smoke was coming in.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire was in a small electrical sub-station and crews used CO2 to put it out.

The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have attended a small fire in a sub-station in Brighton.

The initial calls at 2.52pm reported smoke coming into a hotel on North Street. Due to the fact this was a high-rise building, six fire engines were sent to the scene.

“The hotel was evacuated. CO2 was used on the fire in the substation. There are no reports of injuries.”
