Brighton and Hove property professionals aim to raise £10k for Grenfell Tower fire survivors

Grenfell Tower

Property professionals from Brighton and Hove have set up a Just Giving page to raise money to help the survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Colin Brace, from the Brighton and Hove Property Consortium, said: “I’m sure you were all as moved as we were to see the tragic events which have resulted in many people losing their lives and possessions in the Grenfell Tower fire.

“The Brighton and Hove Property Consortium has decided to set up a page for people to donate to the victims who have lost everything in this horrific fire and to those who have also tragically lost loved ones.”

Last month the Property Consortium raised £35,000 for the Brighton and Hove Mayor’s Charity with a sponsored bike ride from Paris to Brighton.

Mr Brace said: “Our Just Giving page is linked directly to the London Community Foundation charity’s Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund for Grenfell Tower.

“If you feel you would like to show your support then please use this link to donate.

“All funds will be sent directly to the London Community Foundation (registered charity 1091263).

“As a body representing property professionals within the city of Brighton and Hove, our members consider high-quality design and safety standards to be paramount in the design of both residential and commercial developments.

“We are all extremely saddened to watch these events unfold and would like to help in any way possible to ensure that those affected are supported and that his tragedy cannot be repeated.”

If Business Rates were introduced on HMOs and and Properties where the Landlord isn’t residing then this money could be spent on modernising and building Social Housing.

Anyone else see the flaws in this. Very well paid property professionals asking you to donate so they can donate on your behalf. If they perhaps did a bit more in raising money so organised some events might be a better way of doing it. Not saying they shouldn’t try but put a bit more effort in .. maybe they could donate their fees for a day or organise a book sale or do a run or walk.
