Rockfiles announce Brighton gig at The Prince Albert
Rockfiles heading to The Prince Albert in Brighton

Scottish guitar legend from Rockpile and The Pretenders, Billy Bremner, is set to play live at The Prince Albert, 48 Trafalgar Street, Brighton, BN1 4ED on Sunday 19th January 2020 from 8pm to 11pm. He will be bringing Fat Country Ted along as the support act.

Billy Bremner started out in Lulu’s backing group The Luvvers. After joining Neil Innes in the band Fatso, he recorded some solo singles under the pseudonym ‘Bill Murray’ (so as not to get people confused with the famous Scottish footballer of the time), before joining Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds in Rockpile.

Billy Bremner sang lead vocals on the 1980 Rockpile single ‘Heart’. He then wrote ‘Trouble Boys’ which became a hit for both Dave Edmunds and Thin Lizzy. Bremner then released two solo singles on Stiff Records – ‘Loud Music In Cars’/’The Price Is Right’ (BUY 125) and ‘Laughter Turns To Tears’/’Tired And Emotional’ (BUY 143) – before becoming a full time member of The Pretenders, where he played the lead guitar on their 1982 hit ‘Back On The Chain Gang’.

We are reliably informed, that it’s the closest you’ll get to Rockpile and that they sound truly amazing. We are also told that you get all the hits and more and that there is a live music curfew at 11pm, so this will leave punters plenty of time in order to get last trains or buses home. With the Prince Albert being located virtually right under Brighton’s main railway station, then this is most convenient.
