Clips showing shocking moment dangerous dog launches savage attacks released

Footage of a dog launching savage random attacks on other dogs in the city centre has been released ahead of the dog’s imminent destruction.

Last month, the dog Tycoon’s owner Christopher Coffey admitted three counts of being in control of a dangerous dog

Today, Sussex Police released the footage shown at Brighton Magistrates Court showing two of the three attacks, both of which took place in North Street in the spring.

Both clips show members of the public rushing to get Tycoon off its victim. In the second clip, a woman hits Tycoon with her walking stick.

Coffey, 27, said he had not muzzled the dog because he could not read the community protection notice and nobody had explained it to him.

He said he thought it related to domestic violence against his partner.

He said: “All I can do is apologise – that’s all I can do. I didn’t even let my dog go, someone else was holding my dog.

“I’m a good dog owner and I love my dog to bits. He’s not a danger to the public. I have got to put a muzzle on him but I didn’t know, they didn’t explain it to me.”

Coffey, who now lives in Chichester, was banned from keeping dogs for two years and given a 12-month community order with a requirement to undertake 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He has until next Wednesday to appeal against the destruction order.

Brighton council need a June Boolay down their f***** office telephone line.
Millions wasted per year on street rangers, street offenders enabled to continue their behaviour along with large bull breeds and this is the result.
The RSPB and RSPCA could legitimately confiscate the whole bloody council yet these knobs and councillors still have access to a complete cash vault.

What’s concerning is that multiple attacks happened before something was done. This in my mind is a failure to safeguard people from this clearly aggressive animal. Coffey’s ignorance is not a reasonable excuse as any normal person would be expected to put on a muzzle, especially when the dog has attacked others before.

Unfortunately, the animal is evidentially a danger to others, and sadly should be destroyed.
