A man crashed into a bus stop on the A23 southbound in Brighton and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
The unnamed driver had been at the wheel of a silver Volvo S60 when the accident happened yesterday lunchtime (Thursday 13 November).
Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision at the junction of London Road and Surrenden Crescent, Brighton, at 12.26pm on Thursday 13 November.
“An 85-year-old man was given medical treatment, having suffered a suspected medical incident, but was sadly later declared deceased.
“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
“The road was clear at 2.49pm.”
