A man suspected of assault during a day of protests in Brighton has been identified after police published a photo and issued an appeal help from the media and public.
Sussex Police arrested eight people on the day when an estimated 4,000 people took part in two opposing protests in June.
One of the protests was referred to as “Stop the Boats” and the other was called the “Carnival Against Fascism”.
A police operation known as Op Boise is under way and on Friday (4 September) Sussex Police published a photograph of a suspect.
The force said: “Do you recognise this man?
“Officers would like to speak to him in connection with an alleged assault on a man at the protest in Brighton city centre on Saturday 13 June.
“If this is you, or someone you know, please contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 47260142979.”
Yesterday (Tuesday 8 September), Sussex Police said: “A man we wished to speak to him in connection with an alleged assault in Brighton has now been identified.
“This follows an appeal for information we issued in relation to the reported offence which was alleged to have occurred at a protest in the city centre on Saturday 13 June.”
