Brighton Station ‘occupied’ by pro-Palestinian protesters

More than 100 pro-Palestine protesters are staging a sit-in at Brighton Station, chanting ‘Ceasefire Now’.

The ‘occupation’ follows similar events at London stations including Liverpool Street and Kings Cross.

In a press release sent to local media, one protester is quoted as saying: “We’re here today because we cannot sit by whilst politicians endorse a genocide against the men, women and children of Palestine, whilst claiming to represent us.

“What is happening right now in Gaza and the West Bank is horrifying. It’s heartbreaking to see both the Conservatives party and Labour part refusing to take action to save more Palestinian and Israeli lives from being lost.”

The protesters are sat outside Simply Food. Commuters appear to be able to use the station as normal.

A GTR spokesperson said: “A protest took place at Brighton station earlier this evening.

“Our train services and station operations continued to operate as normal whilst the protest took place, and our station staff worked closely with the British Transport police to help our customers travel through the station with minimal disruption.”

Getting the IDFs notice is obviously not purpose of this sit in. If you read the quotes from the protesters you’ll see that they are upset because the government is speaking and acting for the people, but not listening to what the people want. People want a ceasefire, our government is anti ceasefire. Israel is breaking international law, our government should not be endorsing that for any reason. Our country should not be standing by whilst a genocide.

People want a cease fire? Well this person doesn’t and millions more do not. Hamas have said (officially) even on the event of a cease fire they will attack again. So why don’t you protest about that? Not fashion correct or labour lovey enough?.

Their message is that the uk government is actively supporting the genocide and that it’s our job to change that.

      • Hendrik says:

Well if that is the message it is a really stupid and false one. They have said over and over again (not that you people are prepared to listen) that Israel has every right to defend itself, which is something it would never be able to do until and unless Hamas is wiped out.

All the women protesters should visit Hamas controlled territory to experience life under their interpretation of Islamic law.

The son of the leader of hamas said they need to be killed. That’s his own dad. He said what Palestine are you protesting for. ?

      Watch his speech.

Yet again the vile poster using the name Jewbear applauds the Israeli massacre of innocent women and children an act condemned by the UN as a war crime.
Odd that someone who claims to be Jewish is happy to see Israel emulate the methods practiced by the Nazi SS who wiped out entire villages in retaliation for the shooting of a couple of their own…
A war crime is a war crime no matter who carries it out and hopefully one day we will see Benjamin Netanyahu alongside the leaders of Hamas face a court of justice for their evil actions.

So you would have preferred reading about yet more atrocities carried out by Hamas, which is what would surely happen if they were not wiped out. The Nazis were not being attacked by any other country when they carried out their horrendous holocaust, so there is no comparison.

      Dear vile Hamas apologist,
You conflation of Nazi ideology and the defensive actions of Israel, demonstrate your antisemitism so perfectly for all to see . Hide behind your seemingly respectable curtains in Hanover but we see you.

End the “occupation” eh ? – what you mean give Gaza back to Egypt and West Bank back to Jordan ? hmm, history is important if you want to quote it !
The Palestinians were offered a state and they had one a for a few minutes before descending into a civil war, then finally electing a government that has ONLY one aim: the destruction of Israel and death of all Jews. They regard their own population as collateral to be expended in pursuit of their only goal.
The Israelis are going to clear out Gaza, and then stay there and police the place. All of a sudden it will be legal to be gay, women will have rights, kids will be educated and fed. All by the “occupiers”.
These idiots in the UK who support Hamas really don’t look too hard into the real facts. They are being manipulated.
