A man has been arrested after an armed robbery in Hove this morning.
It is not known whether he was the knifeman who held up the Co-op in Church Road, Hove, or whether he is suspecting of committing a related offence.
News of his arrest comes shortly after Sussex Police issued a fresh appeal for information about the robbery in which one man was slightly hurt.
A police spokesman said: “A member of staff at the store was approached by a man when he arrived for work just after 5.30 this morning.
“He was threatened with a knife.
“After assaulting the man, the offender stole a quantity of cash.
“The amount is unknown.
“The offender is describe as white, 6ft tall, with a stocky build, brown eye brows and brown eyes.
“He was wearing a scarf, hat and jeans and left via a fire exit.”
Detective Inspector Steve Warner said: “Officers have been carrying out house to house inquiries in the area.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.
“The victim received bruising to his body following the assault and he has been seen by an ambulance crew.
“He is now helping officers with their inquiries.”
