There were delays in Woodingdean this morning after a dustcart spilt oil at the junction of Warren Road.

Brighton Council’s live traffic service tweeted:

@BHLiveTraffic: #Woodingdean severe delays near the cross roads as a lorry has leaked oil across #WarrenRd by the #DownsHotel. Police are dealing with it.

Brighton and Hove Buses said on Twitter:

@BrightonHoveBus: DUE TO AN incident at the trafficlights by Downs Hotel Woodingdean there is currently severe traffic congestion in that area.

The police directed traffic for about 20 mins until Highways Maintenance arrived to clear the spill, which was cleaned up by 10am.

It was a dustcart, whose oil system had blown and leaked across the road.

The police helped with traffic control for about twenty minutes after which the traffic was flowing freely of it’s own accord.
The last clear up team and barriers left at 10 AM.
Good work by both the emergency services and the clean up team.
