More Range Rovers stolen from Brighton and Hove

Police are reminding Range Rover owners to be wary when they park their cars after two more of them were stolen from outside homes in Brighton and Hove.

Between 7.30pm and 10pm on Saturday 20 June a blue Range Rover was taken from the driveway of a house in Graham Avenue in Hollingbury, Brighton.

A grey Range Rover Evoque parked on the road in Denmark Villas, Hove was then stolen between 10pm on Sunday 21 June and 5.30am on Monday 22 June.

A total of 15 Range Rovers have now been stolen in Brighton and Hove since 23 January. In each case the offenders have managed to drive the vehicles away without having the keys.

Detective Inspector Julie Wakeford said: “The thefts are the first of their kind for four weeks in Brighton and Hove.

“Since the series began we have been urging the owners of Range Rovers to be careful when and how they park their cars to reduce the chance of them being stolen.

“The thieves have not needed the keys to any of the vehicles to steal them so they must be using kit that allows them to get past the vehicles’ security systems and means they can start the cars.

“We still need residents to keep an eye open for people acting suspiciously in their area – especially if they live near people who own Range Rovers.

“If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your area, please call us urgently.

“I would also again urge Range Rover drivers to be particularly vigilant, to consider the security of their vehicles and to contact us if they have any suspicions at all about people near their property.”

Four men from Brighton aged 27, 28, 31 and 49, a 23-year-old man from London and a 33-year-old man from Eastbourne are all currently on bail after being arrested on suspicion of the theft of Range Rovers in the city.

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Solihull, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
