A man was treated after breathing in smoke when a kitchen fire started in Woodingdean yesterday teatime (Wednesday 5 October).
Today an investigation is under way into how the fire started, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said.
It said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 5.45pm to reports of smoke coming from an address in Bexhill Road in Woodingdean.
“Three fire engines attended the scene – two from Preston Circus and one from Roedean.
“The kitchen was well alight.
“Breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used by firefighters.
“One man suffered from smoke inhalation.
“A fire investigation is taking place today.”
A house in Freshfield Road, Brighton, caught alight shortly before 11pm on Tuesday (4 October), with crews from Preston Circus sent to deal with the blaze.
The fire service said: “The fire was in the first floor bedroom.
“One male suffered smoke inhalation. Crews administered oxygen therapy. An ambulance was in attendance.
“Firefighters used a positive pressure ventilation fan to disperse smoke from the property.
Fire crews were also called out to what could be the final barbecue blaze of the year on Monday evening (3 October).
The fire service said: “At 6.27pm Roedean firefighters were mobilised to a barbecue fire in Beacon Hill, Ovingdean, which was out on arrival.”
The same evening, shortly after 8.30pm, two crews from Preston Circus were sent to Bartholomew Square, in Brighton, where they rescued someone stuck in a lift.
