A film about the Beast of Bolsover – long-serving Labour MP Dennis Skinner – is to be screened in Brighton during the party’s annual conference.
“Dennis Skinner – The Nature of the Beast” is an independently made documentary about the 85-year-old MP for the Derbyshire constituency of Bolsover.
It will be showing at the Odeon, in West Street, Brighton, alongside the likes of Victoria and Abdul, Borg McEnroe, Dunkirk, Churchill and Despicable Me 3 on Tuesday (26 September) at 7.30pm.
Afterwards Mr Skinner – a former coal miner who has served as an MP for 47 years – will answer questions from the audience.
The documentary took two years to make with most of its £24,500 budget having been crowdfunded to cover the cost of using archive footage.
After a film festival premiere in June it was given a general release just two weeks ago.
Described as a gentle portrait of the Commons curmudgeon, the film was directed and written by Daniel Draper and produced by Mr Draper and Christie Allanson.
