Brighton & Hove Albion 2 Fulham 2
Albion came back from the brink as a second half Glenn Murray brace earned Albion a point.
It was the Seagulls who were dominant from the start carving out several clear chances . Albion had a flurry of corners but chances faking to Lewis Dunk and Solly March weren’t taken.
Maty Ryan had to be alert to deal with a Jean Micheal Seri effort.
Just as Albion’s early dominance was waining Murray was sent tumbling in the box , Pascal Gross , who had been off for treatment , stepped to take the penalty, which was saved by Marcus Bettinelli.
Gross recent penalty against De Gea of Manchester United and last seasons against Lloris of Spurs both crept in via the keeper , but this effort was weak , although Bettinelli did well to push it way.
From the resulting corner Murray saw his header fizz just over the bar.
Fulham were beginning to turn the tide and get the upper hand as Albion midfielders started to concede possession.
This culminated in Andre Schurrle seizing on an error and putting the Cottagers in front one minute before half time.
Albion were still under pressure early in the second half , but the Dunk and Shane Duffy held firm
Gaetan Bong and Martin Montoya were pushing forward to support the midfield and this allowed Davy Propper to play a delightful ball to set March scampering , the midfielder snatched at his chance a little and sent it rising over the bar.
Within five minutes Fulham doubles their lead. Ryan saved Mitrovic’s initial shot, but the striker placed the rebound out of his reach for 0-2
Almost immediately Murray powered an Anthony Knockaert cross just wide with his head.
Then with Knockaert striding forward and feigning to shoot he nudged the ball tot Murray swept under Bettinelli to halve the deficit
Jurgen Locadia and Ali Jahanbakash entered the fray
Locadia although looking a little less than svelt did put himself about and won some crucial tackles as did the chasing back Jahanbakash.
Albion won a few free kicks in decent positions . Yves Bissouma was also introduced as Albion looked like they had finally gone with both Locadia and Murray up front.
Then from a March fee kick Mitrovic appeared to swipe the ball with his forearm , the assistant referee flagged wildly and Lee Probert gave Albion their second penalty of the afternoon.
Murray who missed two last season, made no mistake and emphatically drew Albion level.
Murray has another chance with a header to put Albion in front and took another tumble , but referee Probert was never going to give a third spot kick
The last meaningful incident of the match , saw Fulham substitute Ryan Sessegnon skip clear of Dunk and Montoya but fire straight at Ryan
Montoya had the last chance , but his volley flew wide with Murray unable to get a diverting touch
In the last seconds of injury time , with the Seagulls piling men forward the Albion won a free kick in a promising position to the left of the penalty area , but after giving the decision Mr Probert blew for full time immediately and before the kick could be taken.
Albion stay twelfth in the Premier League above Arsenal, Manchester United and Crystal Palace for now.
The Seagulls next play at Southampton in the Premier League on Monday 17 September.
