Plaudits for pupils at Hove Park on A-level results day

Hove Park head Jim Roberts sang the praises of pupils and staff on A-level results day.

The school said: “Hove Park School is delighted that so many of our A-level students have deservedly done so well.

“They have worked hard and their accomplishments will allow students to move forwards on to the next step of their career pathway be that university, apprenticeship or straight into the world of work.

“In year 13, the sixth form had excellent results in product design, graphic communications, photography, English literature, geography, history, Italian, core maths and Portuguese, with all of these subjects producing a positive value added score, meaning that they did better than the national average.

“Other successes come from maths, English literature, chemistry, physics, Arabic, graphic design, product design, photography, art and design, geography all achieving 100 per cent success rates.

“This is testament to the hard work put in not only by the students but also by Hove Park staff.

“This year’s results come at an exciting time as Hove Park Sixth form relocates to the Valley Campus from September 2019.

“Our new programmes of study are designed to ensure that every student experiences a career driven pathway enriched with additional opportunities linked to developing both personal and employment specific skills and attributes.”

The school said that individual success stories included

  • Sky McLean who achieved B,B,C grades in English literature, history and sociology and will take up a place at Sussex University to read history.
  • Syeda Begum who achieved, A*, Distinction and Merit in tourism, business and ICT and will go on to Chichester University to study 3D animation and visual effects.
  • Amjad Yabroudi who joined at the beginning of year 10 with English as an additional language and achieved an A* in Arabic and a pass in ICT and business BTEC. He now goes to Middlesex University to study digital media.

Head teacher Jim Roberts was delighted with the results and praised the hard work of both the students and staff.

He said: “I am very proud of the students and their achievements. Our sixth form is about moving students forward and helping them take the next steps in their chosen career path.

“We wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about all their future successes.”
