Praise for pupils at Peacehaven Community School on GCSE results day

More students achieved good passes in their GCSEs at Peacehaven Community School this year.

The school said today (Thursday 22 August): “Peacehaven Community School is delighted with the GCSE results.

“There were some outstanding results showing how the school has gone from strength to strength, particularly with the improvement in good passes.

“There were many individual successes, including Lewis Moore who got five grade 9s and four grade 8s.

“These results included grade 9 in the three separate sciences, biology, physics and chemistry, which is an outstanding achievement.

“Tyler Martin also achieved fantastic results with four grade 9s in mathematics, statistics, sociology and physics and four grade 8s.

“Niamh Hastings made exceptional progress, achieving a set of GCSEs that were two grades higher than the expected level of progress, including a grade 9 in English and a grade 9 in history.

“Lauren Calladine achieved excellent results securing two grade 9s and five grade 8s across a broad range of subjects.

“There were a number of subjects that have achieved highly. These include health and fitness where 92 per cent of the students gained a grade 5 or above – and art and design where 85 per cent of students gained a grade 5 or above.

“In maths there were five grade 9s and this was the same in physics with five students gaining a grade 9 which is an excellent achievement.

“The school is particularly proud of the exceptional progress that their students with special educational needs or who speak English as an additional language achieved – many of whom obtained results that exceeded expected targets.”

Outgoing head teacher Rachel Joseph said: “This is an excellent achievement for all our students and we are very proud of what our students have achieved during their time at PCS at a time when the GCSEs are getting tougher.

“The school has worked hard to ensure all students achieve and this was recognised in our recent Ofsted inspection where we were rated as ‘good’ in all categories.”
