A burglar or burglars broke into a supermarket in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 5 July).

They stole the cash float from the tills and caused an unquantified amount of damage to the Co-op branch in Lewes Road, Brighton.

Sussex Police said that a security company raised the alarm after entry to the building had been forced.

Forensic, CCTV and house-to-house inquiries had been started, Sussex Police said, but currently there was no description of those involved.
