“Thankfully the victim is now in a stable condition and we are hoping to be able to interview him later this week.

“CCTV from the area is currently being viewed and staff from local businesses interviewed along with forensic examinations of the scene and the victim’s clothing.”

The suspect who was seen punching the victim was described as a stocky white man with dark hair cut short on the sides and longer on top.
