The body of a woman from Hove was found in the sea in Peacehaven on Friday afternoon (11 January).
Sussex Police said that she was Mrs Lynne Ashley, 64, from Westbourne Street in Hove.
In a statement the force said: “The East Sussex coroner’s office has confirmed the identity of the woman whose body was recovered by lifeboat crew from the sea off Peacehaven early on the afternoon of Friday 11 January.
“The police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner’s officer is continuing her inquiries.
“A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out within the next week.”
