A man was attacked and robbed on his doorstep in Fishersgate, Sussex Police said.
The man, who is in his late fifties, was leaving his home in Summer Close when muggers stole cash and personal items from him.
The force said: “The victim suffered no injuries but was very shocked by the assault.”
There are believed to be two suspects, Sussex Police said. Both are described as white.
The first suspect was described as 40 to 50 years old, 6ft tall, of slim build and with short hair.
He was wearing a distinctive long green and black camouflage jacket and carrying a back pack and was said to look scruffy.
The second suspect was described as aged 35 to 45 years old, 6ft tall, of slim build and with messy long hair.
He was wearing a black jacket and dark trousers.
Detective Constable Jane Mills urged anyone who saw the incident to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
