A man from Portslade has been sentenced for having under-age sex with a teenage girl.
Kasey Knowles, 21, unemployed, of Flint Close, Portslade, admitted six counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 years old.
The offences took place over a six-week period from the start of December last year to the middle of January this year.
Sussex Police said: “A Brighton man has been sentenced in connection with a child sexual exploitation investigation in the city.
“Kasey Knowles, 21, unemployed, of no fixed address, was charged with six counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15. All the charges relate to one girl.
“At Hove Crown Court on Friday 7 August Knowles, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to a 10-month suspended sentence suspended for two years, a two-year supervision order, 240 hours unpaid work, 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register and 10-year SHPO (sexual harm prevention order).”
Detective Constable Dawn Robertson said: “Knowles is a manipulative man who groomed a girl he met online and then met in the city.
“His behaviour is intolerable and we are working to offer the girl involved the best support.
“If you are concerned about this type of offence, please contact us. You will be supported and believed. Contact us either on 101, email email@example.com or come into a police station.”
Knowles has also been convicted of fare dodging on a train this year and, on another occasion, of stealing a £27 Ralph Lauren top from TK Maxx.
