5 things we are still delighted with as Brighton & Hove Albion can only draw with QPR

1) The amount of times Don Goodman said “Brighton and Hove Albion” in commentary after criticisms that he or his colleagues referred to the club as “Brighton Albion” recently. Or so we are told. This time 19 years ago you’d have thought the club were called Brighton & Hove Albion Nil.

2) Rajiv Van La Parra’s brilliantly energised performance and goal. Who’d have thought that the winger on loan from Wolves was a late  deadline day addition just in case the James Wilsom deal fell through.

3) The passion Lewis Dunk showed as he made a comment to the 4th official as he trudged back down the tunnel after his sending off. We don’t think it was seasonal greeting. And being a Brighton-born lad Lewis’s geography was all out. Loftus Road is no where near Berkshire.

Unfortunately Dunk’s challenge was more in keeping with WWF than association football.

4) The positive thoughts that the unfortunate Solly March, ruled out for the rest of the campaign  by injury, will come back fitter and stronger next season and possibly in the Premier League.

5) That some fans are disappointed about dropping points in recent days. Yes Albion have lost points in both games from winning positions. It’s a small concern.

But in December 1996 the club were bottom of the entire Football League, almost homeless, had a points deduction and most home games were played in such a hostile environment, you’d have enjoyed a better atmosphere at Selhurst.

Today the Seagulls are joint top of the entire Football League, on a record-breaking unbeaten run, have an average attendance of about 25,000 for home games – with a wonderful noise generated throughout their gleaming new stadium.

And … Bobby Zamora’s back.

Isn’t it great to see a player abuse an official after being sent off for an awful dangerous challenge on a player who has ruptured his ACL 3 times.

    Wonderful sight that was!
