A driver has been charged with taking a vintage car and crashing it into another classic car.
Aleksander Kuchin, 29, is facing three charges relating to crashing the red Pontiac Trans Am in Greenways, Ovingdean, on 7 September last year.
The most serious is aggravated vehicle taking, causing damage of £5,000 or more.
The charge sheet says he: “took a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely Pontiac Tran Am XHJ188N, for the use of yourself or another, and after the vehicle was unlawfully taken and before it was recovered, damage was caused to the vehicle.
“Two other vehicles, the first being a green Volkswagen classic car that sustained damage to the front. Additionally, a grey Vauxhall Corsa sustained damage on the nearside.”
According to its numberplate registration, the green Volkswagen was a 1967 Type 3.
Kuchin, of Elmore Road, Brighton, is also charged with driving without due care and attention. the charge sheet says: “The Pontiac was driving southbound on Greenways when the vehicle spun and collided with the front offside of the aggrieved vehicle with the rear offside of the Pontiac leaving harsh tyre marks on the road.”
Finally, he’s charged with driving without insurance.
According to the UK Car Data website, the Pontiac was last sold for close to £25,000 in July 2025, just a few weeks before the crash.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday, but did not enter a plea. He was released on conditional bail, with a condition not to contact Tom Baker, ahead of his next appearance on 25 June.
