A man has been arrested over the “Babes in the Wood” murder of two Brighton girls who were found dead in Wild Park, Moulsecoomb, 30 years ago.
He was arrested this morning but has not been named for legal reasons.
The victims, Nicola Fellows, 10, and Karen Hadaway, 9, went missing on Thursday 9 October 1986.
Their bodies were found the next day after a search by family, friends and more than 150 officers from Sussex Police.
The pair had been strangled and the case became known as the Babes in the Wood murders.
Their bodies were found in undergrowth with Karen’s head resting on the Nicola’s lap. Nicola had been sexually assaulted.
A man was arrested and charged with murder but was cleared when the case came to trial.
The girls’ families have kept up their fight for justice. In 1998 Karen’s father, Lee Hadaway, died from a heart attack.
