Travellers arrive in Brighton park prompting MP to intervene

The arrival of travellers in East Brighton Park has prompted the Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown to write to Sussex Police and Brighton and Hove City Council.

Simon Kirby said that he had urged police and council chiefs to move on the group.

Mr Kirby’s office said that he wrote after receiving representations from constituents who have seen the latest unauthorised encampment in the park.

Mr Kirby said: “Once again we have an unauthorised traveller encampment in East Brighton Park.

“I need to reassure my constituents by advising them when the travellers are to be moved on and I have asked the council and the police to advise me accordingly.”

Not a single person who has commented has tried to put the blame at the door of the travellers, we all understand it’s a way of life for them all.
We are all putting the blame fairly and firmly at the doors of every one of the people that we as a city have put into power to control what happens in Brighton and Hove and their governors in higher places.
The fact is that not only Brighton and Hove, but most places in the UK are sick of the taxes they pay in their areas being wasted moving the travellers from pillar to post rather than taking a constructive and active stand in setting them up with an area they can use for themselves.
How much more of our taxes need to be wasted before this issue is dealt with pro-actively?

Good! The traveller situation in B&H is a SHAMBLES and I am at the point where I just want to move away to get away from this incompetent council. How is this allowed to continue? It’s a total joke and I am totally, thoroughly, wholly and completely sick and tired of this. Enough is enough – at what point are residents going to be properly represented in our own city? The shame, Warren Morgan!

Let us not forget the massive amount of funding that these ‘travellers’ receive from the EU, apparently due to them being a minority ethnic group that ‘needs protecting’….

I can’t understand why the council don’t move these travellers on quickly and the police don’t move them on. Instead they are encouraged to stay by councils leaving bins for the rubbish which it appears are not used. We are intimidated by these people when we walk past, we cannot use our parks because of them and it is us that pay our taxes to have nice parks eats to take our children’s to. They foul all over the grass and woods which is a health hazard. Also they visibly squat to do their ablutions which is not nice for anyone to see. They are loud mouthed in shops and an embarrasment to everyone. This council wants to get their finger out. The people around Brighton do not need this unpleasantness around them every summer. Brighton has got a terrible place to live now. If these people did not need so much of taxpayers money to keep clearing up after them the money could be spent on more worthwhile things I e Brighton seafront arches. I have lived in Brighton all my life and have seen it go gradually downhill. The travellers are to blame in my opinion for this. It is not a nice place to live anymore.

OH RENCAZ, you seriously need your parts looked @ , you are definitely not playing in the same ball game as the rest of us that live in Brighton & Hove, and have to suffer the the dirty disgusting mess and carnage, and misery they cause to residents and the environment wherever they decide they will illegally park up, they are provided with wheelie bins by the council @ these illegal encampments , and do they use them , NO, they prefer scatter their rubbish wherever it pleases them, so no way as tax payers should we be paying to clean there crap up, they pay nothing in to this society, so they should get nothing out of it, and you say we should be more tolerant town, open your eyes and GET in the real world, they don’t want to live in our society, they just want to abuse it. :((

Brighton Council are useless, the police are gutless, spineless and any other feeble adjective you want use. Travellers may have the right to their lifestyle but they do not have the right to break the laws of the land such as criminal damage, assault and threatening behaviour. If I or any other Brighton resident did what they do, we would be in front of a magistrate straight away, it’s time the police did what we pay them for and arrest law breakers who ever they are.

I went to a meeting addressed by one of the Council team which, naturally, has to abide by the national law about Travellers – as they do in East and West Sussex. She was continually interrupted by the foul-mouthed Ukip candidate, who in fact has not worked for sixteen years – his outbursts show why nobody would employ him – and he has been in receipt of more State money week after week than the people he was deriding.

Christopher Hawtree whose party leader said we will make Brighton the most traveller friendly city in the UK, I am pleased that he got dismissed when he stood as an MP

Christopher Hawtree A single person getting more than the £255,000 clean up bill alone, without a single copper coin in benefits or anything else , maths not your strong point ?
