The man charged with the murder of Jill Howell at her Fiveways home is due to appear before a judge at Hove Crown Court in three weeks’ time.
David Browning, 51, was due to appear at the crown court yesterday (Tuesday 31 October) but the Brighton University payroll officer was not present for the hearing before Judge Christine Laing.
Members of Jill Howell’s family watched the proceedings.
Browning, of Willow Drive, Seaford, is charged with murdering his 46-year-old boss on Wednesday (25 October) or Thursday last week.
He appeared in the dock at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (30 October).
The judge said that she expected Browning to be produced on Tuesday 21 November with the Crown Prosecution Service told to serve its case by Tuesday 19 December.
The defence will then have four weeks to respond, by Tuesday 16 January.
If all goes to time, the case should be completed by the end of April at the latest.
Browning remains in custody.
