Brighton singer bags a Brit

Brighton singer Rag ’N’ Bone Man won a Brit award last night (Wednesday 21 February).

The singer, whose real name is Rory Graham, won the award for Best British Single for Human – and thanked, among others, “everyone back in Brighton”.

The 33-year-old, who lives locally, saw off competition from the likes of Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Little Mix.

He was shortlisted in two other categories – Best Solo Artist and Best British Album, both won by Stormzy.

And he performed at the awards ceremony which was held at the O2 Arena in London last night.

He sang against a backdrop of a flaming West Pier.

Last year he won two Brit awards – Best Breakthrough Act and Critic’s Choice.

Another Brighton act, Royal Blood, made it on to the shortlist for Best British Group, only to be beaten by the Gorillaz, Damon Albarn’s animated act.

He’s from Uckfield, but does that mean he lives there? I just took it that he considers Brighton home now? He’s around town often enough, Gresham Blake do all his clothes, he does a lot of charity events and such around the town, i thought maybe he lived here now.

I was referring to the headline, rather than Rory’s comment.
