The Seagulls have signed a young Norwegian defender, the club said this evening (Wednesday 8 August).
Albion said in a statement: “Brighton and Hove Albion have completed the signing of defender Leo Skiri Ostigard from Norwegian Eliteserien side Molde FK on undisclosed terms.
“The 18-year-old has signed a three-year contract, and will initially link up with Albion’s under-23 squad.”
Chris Hughton said: “We are pleased to welcome Leo to the club and I am looking forward to seeing how he progresses here.
“He is a young player and he has already gained some experience playing in Norway and for his country with their under-19s.
“Initially he will link up with Simon Rusk and our under-23 squad but we will be monitoring his progress.”
Albion said: “Ostigard made his senior debut for Molde in June 2017 before joining second-tier side Viking Stavanger on a loan deal for the 2018 season.
“He has also represented Norway at under-19 level, where he has been capped six times and has scored once in a European Championship qualifier against Germany in March.”
