Albion beaten but far from disgraced at Anfield

Albion were narrowly beaten by a Mo Salah goal after 23 minutes

Yves Bissouma was caught in possession and this allowed James Milner to feed Salah, who sidefooted past Maty Ryan

Liverpool had other chances to score before half time, but the Albion defence repelled these.

Liverpool found Albion a tough nut to crack in the second half Salah and Roberto Firmino having chances

Glenn Murray’s tenacity created a clear cut chance for Anthony Knockaert, but the normally reliable Frenchman blasted his effort wide.

Albion had a real go at Liverpool , but were unable to create a further clear cut chance.

Right at the end , Martin Montoya fired in a cross for substitute Pascal Gross, but the midfielder’s header was beaten away by Liverpool keeper Allison.

Albion face Fulham next Saturday (1 September ) 3pm at the Amex

The Seagulls also face Southampton in the League Cup his coming Tuesday (28 August) 7:45pm also at the Amex.
